He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Chris and Amy Biersack.

For his early education, Biersack attended a Catholic elementary school, which he has spoken of in many interviews. Andy was the target of bullying at school, being called all different names that effected his life as a kid; this bullying is re-enacted in the “Knives and Pens” music video. In high school, Biersack attended Cincinnati’s School for Creative and Performing Arts, and majored in drama and vocal music. He left school before graduating to move to Los Angeles to further his potential career, six days after he turned 18.He took vocal training before recording Set the World on Fire to improve what he could do with his voice.

Black Veil Brides is an American rock band based in Hollywood, California and started in 2006 with some friends. The group is composed of Andy Biersack (lead vocals), Ash Purdy (bass, backing vocals), Jake Pitts (lead guitar), Jinxx (rhythm guitar, violin) and Christian “CC” Coma (drums). Black Veil Brides are known for their use of black makeup, and body paint, tight black studded clothing, and long hair, which was inspired by Kiss’s and moltley’s stage persona, as well as numerous other 1980s glam metal acts.
